Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Walter and Evalyn Van Stratum Brinkman Scholarship Walter Brinkman graduated in 1915 and Evalyn Van Stratum Brinkman in 1918 from the Stout Institute. They both taught in the Chicago Area Public Schools. The Brinkmans established the endowment in 1982 in honor of their adopted daughter, Delores Brinkman. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage American multicultural students to have a positive experience in and outside of the classroom. The annual awards is $2,000. Adrianna Thiele Bruce Family Endowed Scholarship Bruce A Connelly, BS ’72, BS ’78, established this scholarship in memory of his grandmother, Esther F. Bruce, and his mother, Vera Bruce Sagonovich. The scholarship also honors the faculty of the applied math program. Without the friendship of Dr. Maki and Dr. Miller, Bruce doubts he would have obtained my BS in Applied Mathematics. This scholarship also honors the memory of two special instructors, Dr. Nelva Runnalls and Dr. John Sabol. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in applied math. The annual award is $1,000. Joshua Hawbaker Bill and Julia H. Burmesch Supply Chain Scholarship Bill BS ‘72, MS ‘80 and Julia Hierl Burmesch BS ‘79 established this scholarship to provide financial assistance for students interested in pursuing a career in supply chain management and global logistics. While working in IBM’s globally integrated supply chain, Bill was aware of the importance and need for skilled supply chain professionals. He was the initial driving force in proposing and facilitating stakeholder input and the development of what is now the supply chain management program at UW-Stout. Criteria for the scholarship includes: junior, senior or graduate student; 3.5 GPA; student must be pursuing or have declared to pursue a supply chain management major. The annual award is $1,000.
