Annual and Endowed Scholarships

James A. and Carol M. Kichefski Endowed Scholarship James and Carol Banner Kichefski were both UW-Stout graduates. James believes that, after a serious childhood illness, his life was changed because of the special interest his high school principal and a Stout industrial arts instructor took in obtaining rehabilitation scholarship funds for his undergraduate degree. The scholarship provides assistance to a student with a physical disability. The annual award is $200. Katherine Inman The Kitanah Kim Fairy Godmother Scholarship This scholarship is named for former UW-Stout student and Gender & Sexuality Alliance Officer Kitanah Kim, who lost her life in a car accident in 2008. Kitanah paved the way for LGBTQIA+ visibility and involvement on campus when she delighted the UW-Stout community with her candidacy for Homecoming Queen in October 2008 and will be remembered for her courage and vibrant drag persona. The scholarship is funded through the generosity of performers at Stout’s annual professional drag show and awarded to a student advocate of color within the LGBTQIA+ community who demonstrates financial need. Recipients must be of sophomore, junior, or senior standing and maintain a GPA of 2.7 or higher. Thomas G. King Endowed Scholarship Thomas G. King was a Stout graduate who founded the industrial arts department at Rhode Island College in 1959. Because of his love of music, his family established this scholarship in his name. The scholarship is designated for a student who demonstrates leadership and scholastic accomplishment in vocal or instrumentation. The annual award is $2,000. Samuel Poncelet
