Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Society of Manufacturing Engineers Endowed Scholarship Initiated by UW-Stout’s Chapter 88 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, this scholarship is awarded to a student in manufacturing studies with a 3.0 or above GPA. The annual award is $200. Trevor Anderson Anna Marie Sorensen Travelship Emeritus Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen initiated this scholarship in honor of his mother, Anna Marie Sorensen. Remembered by family and friends as a strong, compassionate and caring individual, this scholarship symbolizes the deep and abiding faith Anna had in the role education plays in achieving theAmerican dream. The scholarship assists a student who is studying abroad. The Sorensen’s met while attending UW-Stout. They received a valuable education that benefitted both as they pursued their careers in education, business, and community involvement. The Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior who entered Stout as a returning adult student. The determination and perseverance needed to peruse academic goals, while juggling all the commitments of adult life, is honored with this scholarship. The annual award is $1,100. Rochelle Holmes Charles W. Sorensen Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established by the Stout University Foundation Board of Directors in honor of Emeritus Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen’s retirement from UW-Stout in 2014 after 26 years of outstanding and innovative leadership. The foundation board wanted to recognize Sorensen for his “leadership, fundraising achievements and tireless work with donors and alumni.” Throughout his tenure, Sorensen’s vision was driven by maintaining and expanding UW-Stout’s lifelong mission of a hands-on, applied approach to learning. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time incoming freshman who is a first-generation college student with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The annual award is $1,300. Makayla Parkin Barbara L.
