Participants were sampled from two daycare centers located on a university campus. All participants spoke English as a first language and were currently living in the Midwestern region of the U.S. Children in each participant group attended the same daycare/preschool center, and the children knew each other from their prior daycare experiences. Materials A set of pictures were created to be used with the two- to five-year-old children (see Figure 2). This set of pictures contained three images of a dog of different sizes, then on the adjacent page, there was a copied photo of one of the dogs.
