Theodore “Ted” E. Wiehe, 100, of Menomonie, passed away July 1, 2018. He taught machine shop and industrial teacher education at UW-Stout for 28 years. He retired in 1981. Bonnie J. Stoll, 86, of Menomonie, passed away July 4, 2018. She worked as a cook in University Dining Services for many years. Avis N. Scholfield, 90, of Menomonie, passed away June 29, 2018. She worked as a custodian. She retired in 1990, after working 24 years at UW-Stout. June 21, 2018. He worked at UW-Stout for 28 years where he taught and was department chair in the Technology Education Department. He retired in August 1993. Thomas P. Phillips, 81, of Park City, Utah, passed away Aug. 3, 2018. He was an associate professor in the hospitality and tourism department and was at the university 30 years. He retired in May 1996. Loretta M. Burns, 96, of Menomonie, passed away Aug. 24, 2018. She worked in the mail room at the university. She retired in June 1983. Charles E. Yost, 78, of Lake Tomahawk, passed away Aug. 13, 2018. He taught in the Industrial Management Department, working at the university for 32 years. He retired in June 1999. Jerome “Jerry” R. Hansen, 87, Marshall, Minn. and formerly of Menomonie, passed away on Oct. 21, 2018. He worked at UW-Stout from 1965 until his retirement in May 1996 as the chief engineer at the heating plant. Charles “Tom” Allen, 72, of Menomonie, passed away on Oct. 9, 2018. He taught in the department of psychology from 1970 until his retirement in 2008. Dwain P. Mintz, 90, passed away Oct. 11, 2018. He coached men’s basketball at UW-Stout for 27 years, retiring in 1989. Charles D. Baird, 74, of Eau Claire, passed away Sept. 23, 2018. He taught accounting at UW-Stout for 18 years until his retirement in January 2017, with emeritus status. Richard H. Gebhart, 87, of Menomonie, passed away
Judith “Judy” E. Spain, 76, of Eldroado, N. M., passed away Oct. 25, 2018. She was the director of residence life at UW- Stout when she retired in July 1996. She stared working at the university in 1967. Michael D. Larson, 71, of Elk Mound, passed away Oct. 15, 2018. He worked as a custodial engineer for 29 years at UW- Stout. He retired in 2007. Tobin “Toby” R Brown, Aug. 4, 2018. He was a hall director. Reinhard O. Schmidt, 87, Oshkosh, passed away Dec. 17, 2018. He taught in the psychology department at UW- Stout for more than 30 years, retiring in 1994. William “Bill” Bartko, 70, of Menomonie, passed away Nov. 27, 2018. Bartko was a lead custodian at UW-Stout, working at the university since April 2013. Roger L. Hartz, 76, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away Nov. 22, 2018. He taught at UW-Stout for 33 years in communication, education and training. He retired in 2005. Irma E. Brown, 96, of Menomonie, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019. She was a building maintenance helper in Facilities and Maintenance. She worked at UW-Stout for 28 years, retiring in 1983. Frank W. Hebl, 79, Two Harbors, Minn., and formerly of Menomonie and Madison, passed away on Jan. 8, 2019. He taught mathematics at UW- Stout, retiring in 1996. Karen Zimmerman, 76, of Menomonie, passed away Jan. 6, 2019. She was a professor in the School of Education. She served as the early childhood education undergraduate program director, early childhood education graduate program director and chair of the human development and family studies department. She retired in 2007. Fred C. Breisch, 85, of Menomonie, passed away Feb. 5, 2019. He was an associate professor in the mathematics department. He taught at UW-Stout from September 1966 until he retired in May 1993. Arthur E. Muller, 83, of Menomonie, passed away March 15, 2019. He was a professor in the technology department. He taught at UW-Stout for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
Betty L. Misselt, 79, of Menomonie, passed away March 2, 2019. He worked at UW-Stout for 30 years as the secretary for the dean of home economics. She retired in the mid-1990s. Franklin “Frank” F. Borg Jr., 74, of Eau Claire, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019. He was a marketing and public relations manager for the Northwest Manufacturing Outreach Center at UW-Stout and the Stout Technology Transfer Institute. He retired in May 2011. Joshua J. Steans, 48, of Menomonie, passed away May 2, 2019. He worked for the University Library the past 12 years coordinating interlibrary loan services. Henry “Hank” L. Thomas, 88, of Menomonie, passed away May 4, 2019. He was a professor in the metals department and the materials and processing department, now known as engineering and technology. He retired in 1995. Karin Falkofske, 85, of Knapp passed away April 26, 2019. She was lecturer I the speech communications, foreign languages, theatre and music department. She was hired in 1965 and retired in 2000. Wayne A. Nero, 73, of Menomonie, passed away on June 3, 2019. He was a professor in the business department from 1974 until he retired in 1996. Carol S. Gunderson, 74, formerly of Osseo and Eau Claire, passed away June 4, 2019. She was a senior lecturer in the department of social sciences teaching sociology and race and ethnicity courses. She taught full time from 1988 until she retired in 2000. Lee H. Smalley, 92, of Menomonie, passed away on June 28, 2019. He was a professor in the School of Industry and Technology from 1964 until he retired in 1992.
