1950s Roland J. Krogstad ’51, MS ’52 retired from the Wisconsin Board of Vocational Technical and Adult Education in September 1987. He taught in a one-room country school, worked for VTAE schools, Wisconsin Board VTAE for a total of 37 years. 1970s Joseph G. Gindele MS ’71 and his twin brother John F. Gindele MS ’71, of Crystal, Minn. recently published an interactive eBook, “Yorkville Twins: Growing Up in New York City in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.” Their award-winning print edition has been adopted as required reading for freshmen on numerous NYC college campuses in classes called, “The Immigration Experience in New York City.” Julie (Mickschl) Pecoraro ’76 and her husband Tony Pecoraro created The Alliance Realty Pecoraro Team to sell real estate in the Ft Myers, Fla., area. Julie has been a realtor for more than 10 years. 2 Walter Peterson ’78 was named manager of pack- aging innovation for Nestle USA, in Glendale, Cali. Thomas Roundtree ’78 is a vocational rehabilitation specialist at Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis. 1980s Dale E. Bower EDS ’81 was named associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Mary Davenport MS ‘81 is the interim president of Rochester Community and Technical College. Kathryn Schuld Wilson ’81, MS ’83, was appointed United States Department of Agriculture deputy undersecretary for food, nutrition, and con- sumer services May 3, 2015 for the remainder of the Obama administration. Wayne Martin MS ’82, published his first book about cranberries called “Cranberries Revealed: From the Marsh to the Table.” Cranberries are an aspect of Wisconsin life as iconic as cheese and the Green Bay Packers, Martin says. 2016 OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARDS

TRACK Ethen Schoen, who would win the conference and national decathlon titles, set a school record in the long jump (23-10). In women’s track, Laurisa Titterud wrapped up a strong career by breaking her own 800-meter run record (2:11.14). Lydia Meier extended her hammer throw record (185-1) and freshman Kaitlin Woyak kept pushing the 100-meter dash record (12.03). Woyak was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team set a new mark (47.41) and advanced to the national meet. Schoen, pictured below, became the first Blue Devil to win the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon national titles and only the second WIAC athlete to accomplish the feat. The Blue Devil women posted a program-best third place at the WIAC outdoor championship while the men took seventh. BASEBALL Despite an early season injury, Brady Burzynski set a stolen base record with 11 to finish his four-year career with 48 thefts, breaking the mark of 44 set by Tate Cummins from 1997-99. Burzynski was a first-team All-WIAC selection for the second time and was the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete recipient. Burzynski signed a professional contract in May with the St. Paul Saints. Fundraising efforts continue for the Name the Court project, http://bit.ly/29tGdSP, and Locker Campaign, http://bit.ly/29IamBm . Name the Court is for several projects in Johnson Fieldhouse, including naming the floor after longtime men’s basketball coach Dewey Mintz. The Locker Campaign aims to renovate the football locker room. RECORD BREAKERS

The old saying that records were made to be broken came true this spring as UW-Stout records were shattered on the track, diamond and golf course.

Larry Lendl ’83, was promoted to technical manager at Cuhaci and Peterson Architects in Orlando, Fla. Tom Malmstadt ’84 MS ’90, was selected as executive director of the United Way of Sheboygan County. Todd Nelson ’89 is president of Go CMTO Consulting in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. 1990s Jeff Fimreite ’91 was a recipient of the 2016 Herb Kohl Principal of the Year Leadership Award. The award is given for setting high standards of instruction; achievement and character; and for creating a climate to best serve students, families, staff and community. Fimreite works for the Randolph School district but was recently hired in Stoughton as an elementary principal. Christopher Koller ’91, works at Best Buy headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn., where he directly oversees about 50 people while managing several retail categories and several online sales product categories. Carolyn Porter ’91 is releasing her book “Marcel Letters” in the spring of 2017. Juli (Hastings) Konopa ’92 is the director of performance and planning at Walden University based in Minneapolis. Bonnie Pelikan ’92 is the owner and operator of Bonnie’s Café in Glenwood City. 1 Laurie Borowicz MS ’93 is the new president of Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill. Gale Satchel MS ’93 was elected as the Colbert County superintendent of education. Aron Jarr ’94 is the senior director of business development for Franklin Energy. 3 Chris Marx ’94 was named vice president of SG Marina, the marina management division of the Milwaukee-based Siegel-Gallagher Management Company.

LAURA MADSEN Class of ‘96

SOFTBALL Tori Workman wrapped up a prolific softball career and left the program with a career record 508 strikeouts and 57 career wins, topping Karen Lien (1992-95) in both categories. Workman was All-WIAC first team for the third consecutive year and was the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete. The softball team, under first year coach Becky Iaccino, scored a school record 25 runs in a single game. The Blue Devils qualified for the WIAC tournament but dropped their first two games. GOLF Senior Kraig Joy, who transferred to UW-Stout after his sophomore year, fired a school-record 68 in the final meet of the season. He had shot 69 three times. The men’s team won three invitational meets. HALL OF FAME The Athletic Hall of Fame has gone to a two-year rotation. The next induction ceremony is scheduled for the fall of 2017.
