ix years ago, UW-Stout unveiled the most ambitious comprehensive fundraising plan in its history. Under the umbrella of the Pathways Forward comprehensive campaign, the Stout University Foundation and university plotted a carefully crafted journey that would include many challenges and new opportunities, all leading to the successful conclusion of the campaign on June 30, 2020. In many ways the campaign is like this magazine, built on stories. The basis of the campaign came from the story of James Huff Stout and his vision for the technical, “hands-on” educational programs that are the cornerstone of present-day Stout. Our campaign initiatives were guided by the inspirational stories from our faculty and staff about the new learning environments and exciting program innovations they envisioned for a new generation of students. We also heard stories of commitment and dedication from our students, alumni, industry partners and friends who reflected on their experiences at Stout, the impact it had on their lives and why they are committed to investing in Stout’s future. We experienced the dedication of the faculty and staff who brought these gifts to life through innovative educational spaces and programming. And we heard our students share stories of gratitude for the scholarship and program support received from thousands of donors that allowed them to fully dedicate themselves to their dream of a UW-Stout degree. At this time, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to the success of Pathways Forward. While the campaign may be over, this is just the beginning of our continued journey together to provide the best educational experiences possible for the students at UW-Stout.

Warm regards,

William Johnson
