Jarvis Hall Technology Wing Lab Renovations

Five labs along one of the busiest building corridors at UW-Stout were part of a two-year $7.4 million lab renovation project in Jarvis Hall Technology Wing. Overall, the project encompasses 40,915 square feet, including 30,103 square feet of lab space. “The spaces better highlight what it is to be a polytechnic. They showcase the applied learning that is happening, and passers-by can see our students in action,” said Glendalí Rodríguez, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs. Phase one was completed in summer 2024 and included a revamp of the Engineering Technology Research & Development Lab, the Plastics Engineering Lab, the Integrated Technology Lab and the hallway between the labs. Phase two was completed this summer, with renovations to the Construction Lab, the Woods Lab, and the interdisciplinary Research & Development Prototyping Lab. Walls were removed to create larger open spaces and better access between classrooms and lab equipment. The labs have new win dows and overhead doors to facilitate move ment of equipment, enabling the spaces to remain flexible and adaptable into the future, and giving passers-by a glimpse of students’ hands-on, applied learning. Restrooms were updated. A fire sup pression system, HVAC and dust collection systems were installed, fresh paint and acoustical ceiling tiles were added and par quet floors were removed.
