SCHOLARSHIPS The university and its foundation award more than $1 million in scholarships every year to outstanding students. The highly competitive awards are based on your overall student profile, including participation in academic organizations and other groups, interest areas or financial need. The application deadline is the first Monday in February. Awards range from $250 to $9,000. FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE The First Year Experience (FYE) focuses on bringing out-of-classroom experiences together with your academic future. With activities from intramural teams to study groups, you can foster connections with classmates, advisers and faculty members who are right down the hall or just across the street! FYE students live in one of the south campus residence halls, along with other first-year students who are new to the campus. The emphasis in the FYE halls is to help you adjust to campus life and be a successful student. NEXT EXPERIENCE In your second and subsequent years, you’ll move to one of our Next Experience Halls, many of which are located on north campus. You’ll also have access to our online employment portal, Handshake, which includes access to an employer database, several job boards, career events, on campus interviews, and databases of other career information. Handshake also provides students the opportunity to “earn while you learn” through paid co-ops and internships as well as many student employment opportunities on campus. Academic preparation and success are the primary factors considered for admission to the university. No single factor, attribute or characteristic will be used to determine admission. Admission will be based on multiple criteria including academic and personal achievements.
