Annual and Endowed Scholarships
Luther Mahan and Rita Mahan Christoffersen Endowed Scholarship Dr. Luther Mahan taught biology at UW-Stout for a number of years until his death in 1984. Rita Mahan Christoffersen retired after teaching in the apparel and textile area at Stout for more than 40 years. The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate apparel design and development major who has attained a strong academic record and has financial need. The annual award is $1,000. Marilla Von Haden Eino Maki Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was initiated by past graduates in honor of Eino Maki who joined the faculty of UW-Stout in 1963 and served the university for 33 years. He spearheaded the development of the applied math program and served as the program director from 1972 until his retirement in 1996. The scholarship is awarded to an applied math major with a 3.0 or above GPA. The annual award is $1,200. Rochelle Holmes Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry (MAFSI) of Wisconsin Endowed Scholarship The Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry (MAFSI) is a nonprofit trade association comprised of 330 independent manufacturers’ representative agencies and 210 manufacturers in the United States, Canada and Mexico engaged in the sales and marketing of commercial foodservice equipment, supplies, tabletop and furnishings. MAFSI is the voice of the foodservice industry providing a number of services for its members including training and education, business management, sales and marketing and technology, industry policy development including ethical standards development, liaison with other industry groups, annual conferences, personal networking opportunities and communication. MAFSI has established this scholarship to provide financial assistance for individuals interested in careers in the foodservice industry. The scholarship is awarded to dietetics or hotel, restaurant and tourism management majors of at least sophomore standing. The recipient must be a Wisconsin resident and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The annual award is $800. Lucy Will
