2020 Scholarship Reception Booklet

Philip H. McGuirk Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship This scholarship began through the generosity of UW-Stout alums, Thomas and Susan Dodson Wollwert, both 1990 grads in the hospitality program. Susan and Thomas expressed great appreciation for the education they received at Stout and gave high praise to their exceptional faculty. They credited Phil McGuirk as having the most impact on their careers through his mentorship. To show their appreciation and to honor Phil, Susan and Thomas provided a donation in his name. Touched by their donation, Phil McGuirk also contributed to the fund with the understanding it would be directed to students in the hotel, restaurant and tourism management program. The annual awards are $5,000 each. The success of the hotel depends on the commitment and passion of those who come to work each day, ready to create exceptional experiences for our guests. The Hospitality and Tourism students from Stout University have become part of our tradition of excellence over the years through internships and post graduate positions. This scholarship is awarded to Hospitality and Tourism sophomores, juniors and seniors who demonstrate a passion for guest service and the drive and determination for excellence.
