Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Samuel E. Wood Student Senate Endowed Scholarship Sam Wood, former assistant chancellor for Student Services, served for many years as the adviser for the Stout Student Association. In recognition of his many years of service, Scott Cabot, a former SSA president, and his mother, Frances Cabot, created this scholarship to recognize Samuel Wood and to assist an officer, director, or senator member of SSA to more readily afford a UW-Stout education. The annual award is $1,100. Tsimnuj Xiong Xcel Energy Scholarship Xcel Energy has been a major influence at the university as one of the three associates in the Stout Technology Park. They continue to support UW-Stout students by providing unrestricted scholarships. The annual awards are $500 each. Emily Christian Tucker Haakonson Zabel Family Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established by Chris and Cheryl Zabel and their daughter Caitlin, to support UW-Stout students working toward a career in hotel, restaurant and tourism management, early childhood education, or special education. This scholarship is a reflection of their life-long passion in quality education and a strong belief in the importance of serving others. The recipient will have a 3.0 GPA, financial need, and involvement in community or service organizations. The annual Mark Zipperer Pride Hospitality Scholarship Mark Zipperer is a graduate of UW-Stout’s hotel, restaurant and tourism management program and is president and CEO of Pride Hospitality LLC. This scholarship is awarded to a hotel, restaurant and tourism management major with a 3.5 or higher GPA who also has community service involvement. The annual award is $1,000. Connor Ness award is $800. Brianna Graff
