Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Berg Family Memorial Scholarship This scholarship honors Roy A. Berg and Agnes Mihelich Berg, parents of Karen M. Williams and Michael S. Berg. Roy and Agnes grew up on the Minnesota Iron Range. Roy completed an engineering degree at the University of Minnesota and began work in the computer industry, which was in fledgling status when he started in the late 1940s. He spent his entire career in the computer industry in the Twin Cities. Throughout their lives, the Bergs valued education and encouraged their children and grandchildren to pursue and complete a college education. The donors wish to assist student recipients each year in achieving their goal of a college education. This scholarship is awarded to junior or senior engineering or vocational rehabilitation majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need from the area known as the Iron Range of Minnesota. The annual award is $1,000. Warren Williams Dorothy Z. Bergman Endowed Scholarship Dorothy Z. Bergman, a 1939 Stout graduate, was employed by National Presto Industries in Eau Claire, Wis., where she was in charge of the test kitchens. This scholarship is awarded to a dietetics, food systems and technology, or food and nutritional sciences major. The annual award is $2,000. Chloe Kom Janice Henning Blake and George F. Blake Jr. Scholarship This scholarship was made possible through a bequest from the estate of George and Janice Henning Blake, a 1935 Stout graduate. This scholarship is awarded to a nutrition or food technology related major of sophomore standing or above. The annual award is $1,000. Abigail Hassing Florence E. Blank Endowed Memorial Scholarship Bob and Kathy Campbell McCord, both UW-Stout graduates, established this scholarship because of their great respect for Florence Blank’s dedication, love of her profession and keen interest in her students. This scholarship is awarded to an early childhood major who is student teaching. The annual award is $1,100. Elliana Lone
