2021 Scholarship Reception Booklet

Jean Breisch Scholarship Jean Breisch was an instructor in the psychology department at UW-Stout who passed away in 1991. Teaching was her first priority, and she worked ceaselessly for the students. The scholarship is awarded to a female student that is 30 years or older majoring in psychology, vocational rehabilitation, school counseling, marriage and family therapy or clinical mental health counseling. The annual award is $1,200. Shoshana Rivers Walter and Evalyn Van Stratum Brinkman Scholarship Walter Brinkman graduated in 1915 and Evalyn Van Stratum Brinkman in 1918 from the Stout Institute. They both taught in the Chicago Area Public Schools. The Brinkmans established this endowment in 1982 in honor of their adopted daughter, Delores Brinkman. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage American multicultural students to have a positive experience inside and outside of the classroom. The annual award is $2,000. Lydia Wagner Bruce Family Endowed Scholarship Bruce A Connelly, B.S. 1972, B.S. 1978, established this scholarship in memory of his grandmother Esther F. Bruce, and his mother Vera Bruce Sagonovich. This scholarship also honors the faculty of the applied math program because without the friendship of Dr. Maki and Dr. Miller, Bruce doubts he would have obtained his B.S. in applied mathematics. This scholarship also honors the memory of two special instructors, Dr. Nelva Runnalls and Dr. John Sabol. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in applied math.
