2021 Scholarship Reception Booklet
Annual and Endowed Scholarships
How to Establish a Scholarship: Receiving a scholarship can make a real difference as so many of our donors can attest to. For them, continuing the tradition of giving is the best way to say thank you to those who made their own education possible and to help pave the way for future generations. Establishing a scholarship or adding to an existing one are easy ways to make a difference in the lives of UW-Stout students.
Types of Scholarships: Annual scholarships
Are awarded on a yearly basis and maintained through yearly contributions. Benefactors establishing an annual scholarship will make the greatest impact by contributing a minimum of $1,000 annually. These scholarships continue only if the benefactor provides annual gifts to sustain them. Endowed scholarships These scholarships require a minimum gift of $30,000, which can be provided over multiple years. The Stout University Foundation invests these funds to support programs in perpetuity. The principal remains while the earnings of the endowment are used to support the scholarship. Scholarship endowments can be established in several ways. A single gift of cash, securities, or other property, or they may be funded with a series of gifts made over time. Also, you can fund an endowment through a bequest or other deferred gifts, or through a combination of lifetime and deferred gifts.
