2021 Scholarship Reception Booklet
Claudia Knowlton-Chike and Anthony Chike Endowed Scholarship Claudia Knowlton-Chike is a UW-Stout alumna who graduated with a B.S. degree in industrial technology/packaging engineering. UW-Stout was pivotal for Claudia as the faculty, coursework and environment provided for diverse and rich learning. Claudia and Anthony are both strong advocates for education and wish to enable continuous learning. This scholarship has been established with the hope that it will provide needed support for students who have a passion for achieving a college education. The scholarship is awarded to a student with financial need and demonstrated participation and volunteerism. The annual award is $1,000. Nicolas Langenfeld Dennis and Marilyn Koepp “Striver” Endowed Scholarship Dennis Koepp envisioned a scholarship with several features, considerations and goals that tend to stray from the traditional objectives of currently established scholarships. In essence, it seeks out and rewards individuals with backgrounds and circumstances mirroring the personal experiences and challenges that he experienced while attending UW-Stout. It seeks to provide financial opportunity and assistance to a tenacious and highly motivated individual who falls short in academic excellence but excels in determination, dedication, hard work and is extremely focused on academic and career goals. It is an underlying premise that a strong candidate for this scholarship will perform better under heavy academic and social loads than someone carrying lighter loads with the theory of devoting more time to their studies. Therefore, a recipient of this scholarship must emulate and share these characteristics and attributes. Karl A. Kolb and Ernie Weller “Fathership is Heroism” Scholarship Karl Kolb, Ph.D., a retired U.S. Army colonel, established this scholarship as a Christmas gift for his parents. The unrestricted scholarship honors Karl’s father and grandfather so that their ideals can live on indefinitely through a perpetual gift to a deserving student.
