Annual and Endowed Scholarships

Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry (MAFSI) of Wisconsin Endowed Scholarship The Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Food service Industry (MAFSI) is a nonprofit trade association comprised of 330 independent manufacturers’ representative agencies and 210 manufacturers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico engaged in the sales and marketing of commercial food service equipment, supplies, tabletop, and furnishings. MAFSI is the voice of the food service industry providing a number of services for its members including training and education, business management, sales and marketing, technology, industry policy development including ethical standards development, liaison with other industry groups, annual conferences, personal networking opportunities, and communication. MAFSI has established this scholarship to provide financial assistance for individuals interested in careers in the food service industry. The scholarship is awarded to dietetics or hotel, restaurant and, tourism management majors of at least sophomore standing who are a Wisconsin resident with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The annual award is $800. Nayeli Coronado Darlene and Lyle Martens Endowed Scholarship Lyle C. Martens, B.S. 1957, M.S. 1962, and Darlene Pyatt Martens, 1956 of Denmark, Wis., established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in education. Both Darlene and Lyle have been successful educators and wish to provide financial assistance to others who are interested in the field of education. The annual award is $1,100. Melanie Hennes Maurer-Seppanen Endowed Scholarship This scholarship honors UW-Stout alumnus, Dr. Donald Maurer, and his wife, Mary Seppanen Maurer. Dr. Maurer launched his career in higher education with his two degrees from UW-Stout. This scholarship supports a nontraditional student, preferably one who is considering a career in education.
