Herbert Riebe Annual Scholarship Herbert Riebe, a 1957 industrial education graduate, felt his UW-Stout degree equipped him with the necessary skills to have a long, successful, and very satisfying career. Through his education at UW-Stout, Herb developed testing, design, and problem-solving skills, patience, and a “never give up” attitude. He had a great appreciation for the education he received at UW-Stout. Herb’s wife, Viola, established this scholarship to support students enrolled in the engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering programs with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference will be given to students with financial need demonstrating the maturity, focus, and commitment needed to successfully complete the coursework related to their major. The annual award is $1,000. Gabriel Wegner Dan Riordan Scholarship Colleagues, friends and family established this scholarship to remember Dan’s legacy of teaching, scholarship and service to his students and UW-Stout. The Dan Riordan Scholarship recognizes a high achieving undergraduate in the technical and professional communications at UW-Stout. Dan Riordan was a professor of English at UW-Stout for 40 years. In 2010, he helped to establish the baccalaureate degree in technical communication. Dan was the author of the best- selling textbook, “Technical Report Writing Today,” and was honored in 2003 with the Society for Technical Communication Jay R. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching. The annual award is $500. Kelsey Galbraith Helen Melville Roberts Scholarship Helen Melville Roberts, a 1948 and 1965 graduate of UW-Stout, had a successful teaching career and has provided a scholarship for students majoring in career and technical education. Richard Roberts Memorial Scholarship Richard Roberts graduated from UW-Stout in 1957 and was devoted to vocational education in the state of Wisconsin. His wife, Bettye, and many close friends established this scholarship after his death in 1984 to aid an education major. The annual award is $300. Shelby Wolff
