Stout University Foundation Scholarships

Cora Sunde Walters Memorial Scholarship This memorial scholarship was established by Cora Walters’ sister, Mrs. E.B.L. Eckberg. Cora graduated from Stout in 1928 and taught in several Wisconsin schools. This scholarship is awarded to an education major, and the annual award is $300. Monica Miranda Bob Ward Endowed Photography Scholarship Bob Ward was a UW-Stout faculty member. This scholarship recognizes outstanding achievement in the photography area and memorializes Bob Ward’s tradition and style. The annual award is $100. Michelle Lahr Herbert Watanabe Annual Scholarship Herbert (Herb) Watanabe, 1950 technology education and 1958 vocational, technical and adult education graduate, established this scholarship in honor of the education he received from UW-Stout. Herb was encouraged to attend Stout by his shop teachers, many of which were Stout graduates that had a great influence on education in the state of Hawaii. While on campus, Herb was a member of the Kappa Phi Sigma fraternity, the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, a member of the college choir, Editor-in Chief of The Tower yearbook, vice president of his senior class, and he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1977. Herb had a 50-year career, much of it as the principal of Technical Schools in Hawaii and served 12 years as an elected member of the Hawaii State Board of Education. This annual scholarship is for a student with financial need in any major. The annual awards are $1,000 each. Taylor Kinsella Joseph Mischke Harry Watts Jr. and Janine Sevcik Watts, Ph.D. Endowed Scholarship Harry E. Watts Jr. ’61, M.S.’66, and Janine A. Sevcik Watts ‘62, M.S.’66 graduated from UW-Stout and established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to students preparing for or enhancing their post-secondary educational leadership positions.
