Stout University Foundation Scholarships
Michael and Sandra Wiemerslage Chopin Scholarship The Chopins met at UW-Stout where they received a valuable education that led to their lifelong dream of teaching. Sandy taught family and consumer education at Monona Grove Schools, and Mike taught in the automotive department at Madison Area Technical College. This scholarship is awarded to a Madison Area Technical College student who is transferring to UW-Stout and majoring in food science and technology, dietetics, hotel, restaurant, and tourism management, or technology education. The annual award is $1,000. Michael Schieldt Charles C. Coker Graduate Scholarship This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Charles Coker in his memory upon his death in August 2013. After a career in the Navy and obtaining his M.A. in clinical psychology and Ph.D. in experimental psychology, Chuck moved to Menomonie in 1975 to begin a position in the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institution. Chuck retired from the university in 2000 after 25 years as a research scientist having written many grants, articles and reports, and working on numerous projects related to the field of vocational rehabilitation. In retirement, he founded Research Solutions International (RSI) with the mission of developing internet based program evaluation tools to assist rehabilitation organizations in improving the delivery of employment and social services to individuals with and without disabilities. This scholarship is awarded to a fulltime graduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.25 in the M.S. vocational rehabilitation program. The annual award is $1,000. Cheryl Mosley Patricia Coker Endowed Graduate Scholarship Patricia Coker, who died of cancer in 1991, was a woman of determination who taught until her illness made it impossible. The recipient of this scholarship must be committed to a service career and a graduate student majoring in applied psychology, education, school counseling, marriage and family therapy, clinical mental health counseling, school psychology, or vocational rehabilitation.
