2022 Scholarship Awards

Jack Genskow Endowed Scholarship Jack Genskow was a long-time friend to the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute where he was a member of the National Advisory Council to the Research and Training Center. Friends and family established this scholarship to assist promising students attain their personal and professional goals in serving the needs of people with disabilities. This scholarship is awarded to a junior, senior, or graduate vocational rehabilitation major who has a career goal in service, advocacy, research, training, or leadership in rehabilitation. The annual award is $800. Ashley Minikus The Giese Family Endowed Scholarship In honor of their parents who saved and sacrificed for them, The Giese Family Endowed Scholarship is given to a student majoring in engineering technology, mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering. Steven Giese, Class of 1973, and Perry Giese, Class of 1979 are pleased to present this annual scholarship in memory of their parents, August Robert and Doris Giese. Originally from Whitewater, Wis., Steven and Perry had successful careers in the manufacturing fields and have their own manufacturing businesses. The annual Kara B. Gilbertson Endowed Scholarship Kara B. Gilbertson was a highly motivated person who chose to return to college at UW-Stout to earn a bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, which would fulfill her desire to help people. In April 2008, she died from a brain aneurysm. Her determination to pursue this goal as an older, nontraditional student is fulfilled by assisting future similar students to accomplish their goals. This scholarship is awarded with a preference to a nontraditional junior or senior vocational rehabilitation major. The annual award is $900. Ashley Minikus Michael T. Gilbertson Memorial Scholarship Michael Gilbertson died as the result of a car/bicycle accident in 1991. This scholarship was established in his memory and dedicated to promoting career guidance, counseling and career development programs. It is awarded to a graduate student majoring in school counseling. The annual award is $800. Olivia Watzke award is $1,000. Matthew Collins
