Stout University Foundation Scholarships
Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s John Ernst Memorial Scholarship The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is a family of more than 1,000 individual charitable funds, each created by donors to serve local charitable causes of their choice. Grants from these funds serve people throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties. Started in 1915, the foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the U.S. John Ernst was a noted Milwaukee restaurateur. This scholarship, provided through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, recognizes dedicated food service administration or restaurant management majors. Preference is given to employees of members of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association having their principal places of business located in the Greater Milwaukee Area. The annual award is $1,600. Emily Schmitt Greeks of the 1990’s Giving Back Annual Scholarship In August 2021, members of Greek organizations, sororities, and fraternities from the 1990’s held a reunion in Menomonie, Wis., which was attended by approximately 150 people who contributed money to establish a scholarship to recognize students who contribute by being active participants in Greek life through their positive engagements within the university community. Highlighting the areas of academics, socializing and philanthropy. The scholarship is for a full-time student with financial need who has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is an active member of one of the Greek fraternal organizations (sorority/fraternity) at UW-Stout. The annual award is $500. Coco Nelson Audrey M. Grote Endowed Scholarship Audrey Grote, a 1957 graduate of UW-Stout, established this scholarship in appreciation of the education she received at UW-Stout which prepared her for a successful career which included teaching and serving as the state supervisor of family and consumer science education for the Minnesota Department of Education. This scholarship is awarded to a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior who has financial need majoring in either family and consumer education, early childhood education or human development and family studies with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
