2022 Scholarship Awards

Harold H. and Ruby D. Hal n Endowed Graduate Scholarship As both a graduate of and professor at UW-Stout, Harold Hal n has a strong and longstanding af nity with the university. His deep-seated belief in continuing education along with his desire to make a difference to others are the key factors in establishing this scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a M.S. or Ed.S. degree in career and technical education. Preference is given to a Wisconsin resident who is a rst-generation student. The annual award is $1,400. Jesse LaBrosse Dianne J. Lindberg Hallongren and Dr. Eugene G. Hallongren Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established in honor and memory of Dianne J. Lindberg Hallongren by her husband, Dr. Eugene G. Hallongren. Dianne and Gene met at Stout in 1964 and were married in August of 1967. Dianne graduated in 1966 with a degree in home economics education, and Dr. Hallongren in 1965 with a degree in industrial education and an MS degree in guidance and counseling in 1966. Dianne passed away on Nov. 29, 2021. Dianne was active in leadership positions as a student. She was a member and of cer of the Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority; a member and of cer of the Home Economics Club; Mardi Gras Princess, and other campus activities. Dianne taught home economics in middle school for several years and was active in leadership roles in her church and community. Dr. Hallongren had a 44-year career that included: teaching, counseling, and coaching in high schools; counseling, teaching and administration positions in a community college; and university president positions. Both Dianne and Gene appreciated and valued the exceptional faculty, quality education and lifelong friendships from their time at UW-Stout. Two scholarships will be awarded annually to full time sophomore, junior or senior students in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated nancial need as determined by the Financial Aid Of ce. The scholarship is restricted to students in family and consumer sciences education and technical education. Applicants for these scholarships need to be actively involved in either university organizations, recreational activities, or their community. The annual awards are $1,500 each.
