2022 Scholarship Awards

Darlene and Lyle Martens Endowed Scholarship Lyle C. Martens, B.S. 1957, M.S. 1962, and Darlene Pyatt Martens, 1956 of Denmark, Wis.., established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in education. Both Darlene and Lyle have been successful educators and wish to provide financial assistance to others who are interested in the field of education. The annual award is $1,200. Alexa Kupczak Maurer-Seppanen Endowed Scholarship This scholarship honors UW-Stout alumnus, Dr. Donald Maurer, and his wife, Mary Seppanen Maurer. Dr. Maurer launched his career in higher education with his two degrees from UW-Stout. This scholarship supports a nontraditional student, preferably one who is considering a career in education. The annual award Nancy ( Carroll ) and William Maurina Family Endowed Scholarship The primary purpose of this scholarship is to create a memorial to recognize Nancy Carroll Maurina, UW-Stout 1955 dietetics graduate. She completed her requirements for the national registration at the University of Indiana Medical Center in July 1956. At that time, she was recognized as a registered dietitian and maintained that status for the rest of her career. The purpose of this fund is to award an annual scholarship of $1,000 to assist a serious and capable UW-Stout Stout student achieve their goals for a quality university education. Ruth Lambert Michael Maxa Memorial Scholarship Michael Maxa, a UW- Stout hockey player, died in a tragic accident in the winter of 1982. His family and friends established this scholarship to honor Mike and assist a student who exemplifies leadership, scholarship, dedication and good citizenship. The annual award is $300. Alexandre Schroeder is $2,600. Kari Todryk
