Stout University Foundation Scholarships

William and Diane McKinnon Family Endowed Scholarship Bill, B.S. 1959, attended UW-Stout on the GI Bill and was an early industrial technology graduate. Bill met Diane at UW-Stout and they married in 1957. Diane worked while Bill finished his degree. Bill’s first job was at the University of Nebraska where Diane, B.S. 1961 finished her degree in fashion merchandising, clothing and design. They were fortunate to graduate without student debt. Due to the high cost of attending college, scholarships are an important financial component for students. This scholarship is awarded to a fulltime junior or senior who is a resident of the United States attending UW-Stout, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and pursing a degree in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Management or the College of Education, Hospitality, Health and Human Services. The annual awards are $1,700 each. Abigail Filipiak Nolan Harke Colby Johnson Malcolm and Josephine ( Ryan ) McLain Scholarship In memory of Mac and Jo, their family has established a scholarship for full-time students facing financial, social, or physical challenges. Jo and Mac attended UW-Stout in the late 1930s. They left in the early 1940s and were married while Mac was playing professional football. After World War 2, they purchased the family farm in Dunn County and raised five children, four of whom would later graduate from UW-Stout. In 1964 Jo returned to UW-Stout and completed her degree and worked for twenty years as a social worker at the Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled. During this same period, Mac worked for Dunn County Social Services, administering the food stamp program, and assisting county families experiencing financial hardships. The annual awards are $1,800 each. Choua Lor Bailey Pedersen Sade Parker Kahly Yang Edna Allen McMillan Endowed Scholarship Donald Y. McMillan established this unrestricted scholarship in memory of his wife, Edna Allen McMillan. Edna was a 1939 Stout graduate and taught until her death. The annual award is $300. Max Stellmacher
