Stout University Foundation Scholarships

Chris “Mr. Nap” Napieral Annual Scholarship Chris “Mr. Nap” Napierala graduated from UW-Stout in 1982 with a B.S. in technology education. While at UW-Stout he participated in the band. He loved the Menomonie area so much; his retirement home was here, and he would tell stories of his years at UW-Stout to all those who visited him. Chris loved teaching and served as an industrial arts teacher for the Milwaukee Public School System for 33 years teaching at the middle and high school levels. During his career he obtained a special education certificate to assist students with special needs. Chris was also a member of the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association (MTEA) and was awarded the Technology Educator of The Year award in 2004. Chris once said, “Even those students who prefer office work to woodwork can benefit from my class… students need to be exposed to this because they’ll be future homeowners.” This scholarship is for a full-time student majoring in technology education or special education with a minimum GPA of 2.8 who is from Wisconsin and participates in extracurricular or community activities. The annual award is $2,500. Benjamin Schmitt Naylor Family Annual Scholarship Nancy Perkins Naylor and James M. Naylor, both 1965 UW-Stout graduates, spent their careers as educators, teaching in elementary, secondary, and higher education. During Jim’s term as a Stout University Foundation Board member, he learned first-hand of the need for scholarships as well as the impact they have on students and their families. In 2015, Jim and Nancy established an endowed scholarship for education majors. These additional annual scholarships will provide further support to education, students, and UW-Stout. This scholarship provides $1,000 scholarships. Owen Batten Karlin Lipinski Laysha Castro Kulas Taylor Luxem Bryn Kirsch Cade Seep
