2022 Scholarship Awards

Homer C. Rose Endowed Scholarship Homer Rose, a 1931 Stout graduate, had a lifelong career with the military and federal government until his death in 1967. His widow, Mary G. Rose, established this fund with gifts from family and friends to assist a student with financial need. The annual award is $400. Austin Wedeking Jane Rosenthal Endowed Scholarship Jane Rosenthal’s son, John, and friends established this scholarship in her memory. Jane was a 1940 Stout graduate. Throughout her 20 years of employment at Stout, she appreciated the institution’s educational verve and strong nurturing of professional development. She steadfastly challenged her students to become active in leadership roles. This scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior family and consumer sciences education major who is involved in a professional student organization. The annual award is $500. Sarah Korte Mary Kay and John Joseph Rossmeier Endowed Scholarship Mary Kay and her brother John Joseph Rossmeier both received degrees from UW-Stout. Mary Kay was a dedicated junior high school teacher for 34 years. She received a bachelor’s degree in 1967 and a master’s degree in 1973. John Joseph received a bachelor’s degree from UW-Stout in 1969. He worked his way through UW-Stout at various Menomonie businesses. He was an industrial arts teacher, dairy farmer, owning the Hilbert, Wis. homestead, and a draftsman at an electrical engineering firm. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has financial need and a 3.0 or above GPA. The annual awards are $2,800 each. Makenna Fendrich Joel Selseth
