FIND YOUR FIT. DO WHAT YOU LOVE.

Now that you’ve started your college search, you’re probably getting bombarded with questions like, “What do you plan on studying?” or “What are you majoring in?” from not only well-meaning friends and family, but from colleges as well. Maybe you already have a major selected, but if not, you’re not alone. According to surveys, an estimated 20 - 50% of students enter college as undecided, and about 75% of students change their major at least once before graduation. At UW-Stout we group our majors into six areas called Career Clusters to help students explore our majors more easily. Each cluster leads to careers with parallel skillsets or interest areas similar to the clusters you may have learned about in high school. Interested in more than one major or cluster? Not to worry! As a Stout student you’ll have the opportunity to work with an Advisor and a Career Services Counselor who can help you fine tune your decision, determine a way to double major or minor in a subject area or obtain an internship. We also have an optional 1 credit Seminar in Career Exploration course you can take to explore different career outcomes and the pathways that will lead you to them.

What major will help you pursue what you’re passionate about? Take a look through this Career Cluster guide to find your fit.
