→ ROOMMATE GROUPS

LIFE @ STOUT

05

www.uwstout.edu/housing

FINDING A ROOMMATE JUST GOT EASIER! > Residents can search for a roommate or create roommate groups to prioritize compatibility.

> What does a roommate group do?

> Roommate groups allow you to organize desired roommates. They also allow you to assign roommates when you select your room. This can increase the likelihood of being assigned together if you do not choose a room. However this does not guarantee you will be roommates.

> How to be in a roommate group:

Be invited to join a group.

Create a group & invite members.

OR

02

01

> To join a group you are invited to, click accept. To decline, click decline. You can view groups that you have created or been invited to as well. As changes occur within the group, group members will receive emails about the changes.

> At what point should I be in a roommate group?

> You can start forming a group any time after completing your preferences. > It is best to be in a roommate group PRIOR to room selection starting. If you are not in a group or your group disbands before room selection, you will still be able to select a room and will be able to see your assigned roommate.

> Roommate search list

> Those on the list can search or be searched, based on roommate preferences. > If you find a potential match, the list will provide contact information. > If they are a good match, then you can create your roommate group. > Add or remove yourself from the list at any time.

→ COLLEGE TRANSITION

TAKING THE GUESSWORK OUT OF THE SELECTION PROCESS. > Here are answers to common questions we get about roommates & room selection.

> What if I don't have a roommate in mind? > What if I want to be in a Living Community and how do roommates work in a Living Community? > That's okay, we have a tool for you to start seeing who may be a good match. The roommate search list will let you see who is also looking for a roommate and you can search based on how people answer their roommate preference questions. Then you can start reaching out to see if you would be a good fit or not. We all know that there is more to finding a good potential roommate match than matching on a few questions, but it is a great place to start! > In mid-April those who applied and are selected to be in a Living Community will be contacted via email. Your desired roommate will also need to be accepted to the Living Community to be roommates on the floor together. If selected and you need a roommate, your Living Community selection email will share with you the tool that is available to connect with others also in the Living Community. > What if I want to be with a "Random" roommate? > If you want to live with someone that you do not currently know, that is great! We often find this helps students meet more people and more connected on campus. To choose a "random" roommate, use the roommate search list and choose potential roommates that you do not currently know.

> When will room selection be?

> What if I don't find a roommate by room selection? > First year students will pick their room in late June. We do room selection at this time to give you time to search for a roommate and if you meet someone through the summer registration/ orientation activities, there is a higher chance that you can room together when room selection time comes. Transfer and re-entry students will select rooms in early/mid June. > We encourage you to use the roommate search list to reach out and find a potential roommate that you believe you will be a good match. If you don't find someone by room selection or if your potential roommate leaves your roommate group right before room selection, you can then look for half open rooms when it is your time to pick a room. When you see a half open room at room selection, you view the person who is in their room and what their preferences are prior to selecting the space.

ANTICIPATING HOUSING AND DINING COSTS. > Please visit the Housing and Dining semester rates on the website for information about current rates and future rates as they become available.

> Dining Dollars > Funds deposited onto your Stout BlueCard (amount selected by plan option). You use these funds to purchase meals. Dining Dollars are accepted at all dining locations; however, you get the most value from your plan by dining at Commons or North Point Cafeterias. In these locations you will pay only on-campus cafeteria prices (food costs) and receive one entree, unlimited sides, salad bar, beverages, and desserts per visit. Unused funds roll over to the next semester.

> Campus Cash > Additional funds on your Stout BlueCard that can be used for things such as laundry, printing, vending machines, etc. Unused funds roll over to the next semester.

> Board Fee > This is a flat rate for all on-campus students. This fee pays for operating costs such as utilities, labor, supplies, maintenance, and insurance in our cafeteria locations. The Board Fee pays for everything, other than food, and is required to operate Commons and North Point Cafeterias.

> Room > This cost is determined by the type of room you select.

→ DINING PLANS

www.uwstout.edu/housing

A DINING PLAN DESIGNED TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR DINING EXPERIENCE. > Planning What Plan You Will Choose When You Select a Room > Consider how often you will eat in the cafeteria dining locations and how often you may be eating outside the cafeterias at our retail locations. Additional funds can be deposited throughout the semester, and unused funds carry over so you never lose them. Where you dine is the most important factor besides frequency of dining when you select a plan. Dining in Commons Cafeteria and at North Point Cafeteria the majority of the time is the most economical use of your Dining Dollars.

> Consider the following data when estimating usage: > The Blaze 600 plan would approximately cover eating breakfast and lunch in the cafeterias during a semester with a few extra meals. > The Stout 900 plan is designed to cover every meal offered in the cafeteria with extra funds for other dining operations. > The Blue Devil 750 plan is recommended for first-year students until their dining habits are determined. It covers all lunch and dinners in the cafeteria during the semester. >Your Dining Dollars roll over semester to semester, year to year so there is no penalty for picking a higher plan.
