University Recreation (Urec) is a comprehensive collegiate recreation department within Administrative Student Life Services, a member institution of WIRSA and includes a variety of recreational opportunities for the UW-Stout community in adventure recreation, tness, intramural sports and sport clubs. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS 180 participants for the Blue Devil Run; attendance up 34% from 2017. - FITNESS FITNESS Poker Walk had beautiful weather again this year. We also hit another new high in attendance: 162 Winner had the best hand of 4-of-a-kind. Strength Competition We had a solid 17 participants for the 20th Annual Strength Competition. This year we added in announcing PRs for the athletes, which added a lot to the excitement and camaraderie. Wellness week transitioned into Wellness Series with multiple classes and sessions offered by collaborating with campus partners. - - -

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS New Climbing Wall renovation has been great for our climbing community & Stout. More usability on the ART wall, a new surface & huge addition onto the new 5.15 wall, also the addition of bouldering to the climbing facility. StoutBikes was quite successful in first full year. Summer & fall are busier than spring rentals. We had 2 successful bike mechanics working on maintaining the bikes whose payroll was paid by the Green Fee. 5 out of 8 fall semester trips successfully took off.

Men’s Lacrosse hosted two home games Bowling participated in five tournaments and had very active members Dance Ensemble recruited students through hosting preview nights on-campus prior to their shows Largest club was Dance Ensemble with 75 members, they also hosted 2 recitals on-campus Fishing Club qualif ed a team (2 students) for Nationals in FL Waterski qualified for regionals Men’s Volleyball took 1st place in their preseason tournament Alfresco placed 2nd in the homecoming parade Waterski placed 1st in the homecoming parade for the best float Men’s Lacrosse had their first female participant on their active roster Men’s Soccer hosted open gyms in the MPR with multiple ales and females in attendance 4 out of 7 spring semester trips successfully took off. ACCOMPLISMENTS: Men’s and Women’s Volleyball played in five tournaments and fundraised at U.S. Bank Stadium together Ski & Snowboard travelled to Telluride, CO Waterski participated in clean up in Menomonie

Virtual Programs Offered - Fitness program offered online workouts posted on social media - Intramurals hosted a social media contest for Trick Shots - Universities around the state put on a virtual running challenge called Run With Rec, which had about 300 people participate who ran a toal of 1,100 miles Financial Impact - Reimbursed all student members a pro-rated fitness and climbing rate, resulting in nearly $70,000 loss for the fitness program and $1,100 loss for Stout Adventures - The cancellation of Stout Adventure's spring break trip and Youth Climbing League, resulted in an additional $3,100 - With Block 3 Intramural registration recently opening, a minimal loss of $70 in refunds was made - Inability to sell fitness memberships the remainder of the school year and summer resulted in a projected revenue loss of $17,000 Cancelled Programming - Poker Walk - Strength Competition - Stout Adventures Spring Break Trip - Intramural Block 4 Additional Challenges - Inability to give student staff a return date or solid information resulted in a loss of engagement and some students did not return when we re-opened - Sport Club numbers have drastically decreased due to the inability to participate in the club activities during most of the Spring

COVID-19 IMPACT University Recreation closed March 13, 2021 for spring break and did not reopen until July 2021.
