2022 Scholarship Awards

SMC LTD, Plastics Engineering Scholarship SMC Ltd. is a medical device contract manufacturer with a core competency in injection molding. SMC was founded in western Wisconsin in 1988 and has become a global company with 11 worldwide locations and headquartered in Somerset, Wis. The SMC Ltd. Plastics Engineering Scholarship supports full-time plastics engineering or manufacturing engineering students with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and are residents within 100 miles of UW-Stout. Recipients should be students enrolled in plastics engineering or manufacturing engineering, beginning their first year. The annual awards are $1,500 each. Daniel Crippes Tyler Rislov Mary Huntzicker Snyder Scholarship Mary Huntzicker Snyder, a 1946 Stout graduate and retired teacher, passed away in 1995. Mary’s sister, Jane Huntzicker, a 1944 Stout graduate, contributed the unrestricted funds for this scholarship as a tribute to Mary’s love of education. Society of Manufacturing Engineers Endowed Scholarship Initiated by UW-Stout’s Chapter 88 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, this scholarship is awarded to a student in manufacturing studies with a 3.0 or above GPA. The annual award is $200. Evan Zaves Anna Marie Sorensen Travelship Endowed Scholarship Emeritus Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen initiated a scholarship in honor of his mother, Anna Marie (Madson) Sorensen. Anna was born in 1906 and achieved an eigh-grade education, common in rural America at that time. She insisted that each of her children go beyond that since she realized early that a strong education meant a better life. Remembered by family and friends alike as a strong, compassionate, and caring individual, this scholarship symbolizes the deep and abiding faith Anna had in the role education plays in achieving the American dream. Preference is given to a student whol is studying abroad. If travel is suspended or no students qualify, this scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in applied social sciences.
