New Faculty Members

Dr. Mike Mills, Assistant Professor Technology Education Dr. Mills is a native Minnesotan and has post-secondary degrees from Southern Utah University (A.A. Criminal Justice; B.S. Technology Education), Dakota State University (M.S. Educational Technology), and University of North Dakota where he recently completed his Ed.D. in Educational Practice and Leadership. Mike joins us from South Dakota where he spent 17 years teaching high school cabinetmaking/woodworking. During that time, he also spent four years serving as the State Director of SkillsUSA South Dakota. In addition to teaching education courses, Mike will be collaborating with university faculty, Fab Lab staff, and preK-12 educators to help integrate Fab Labs into the preK-12 curriculum. Mike is excited to be transitioning to higher education where he will be able to work with future teachers and leaders in Technology Education and in Career and Technical Education. Dr. Michael Selover, Assistant Professor, Career & Technical Education Dr. Selover is a former K-12 and community college educator with additional private industry background in agriculture and engineering. His research interests focus on educational geography and its impact on access and equity as well as employing emerging methodologies across educational and interdisciplinary research. In addition to teaching courses, Dr. Selover is serving as the MSCTE Program Director. He earned his B.A. in Geography and his M.S. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida and his Ed.D. from UW-Stout.

Dr. Brett DeJager, Assistant Professor School Psychology Dr. DeJager is also a native Minnesotan and earned his bachelor’s and graduate degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Previously he was a high school Dean of Students and served as a School Psychologist prior to that. Brett recently moved from Shell Lake, WI to Chippewa Falls after accepting his position at UW-Stout. He is enjoying his new position and is excited about meeting new people here at UW-Stout.

Faculty Research Ann (Oberding) Carlisle completed her year-long research project as a 2022-23 Wisconsin Teaching Fellow. Her research project titled Classrooms for Inclusivity: Emerging Voices in Art Education Preservice Educators focused on understanding how future teachers see themselves as future teachers creating inclusive classrooms. She collected data from student surveys and journal entries which led her to create a painting to reflect her findings. She presented her painting and findings at the June 2023 University of Wisconsin System Faculty College professional development program.
