Students Receive $36,200 in Scholarships

Six members of Phi Upsilon Omicron (Phi U) Tau Chapter received scholarships from the national Phi U Education Foundation totaling $36,200. The Tau Chapter also received first place nationally on their professional project titled The Impact of Supporting Families: How it can Change Lives. This project focused on family broadly as a group of important individuals who care, love, trust, and support one another. The goal of the project was to spread love, joy, and support, build strong family connections within our community, and learn more about how members can support families within schools. Their project included activities throughout the year, including donations to local non-profit organizations, volunteering in schools for special events, and creating appreciation bags for teachers and for businesses that support the schools. They connected with people of all ages, from young children to the elderly, within Dunn County and the Menomonie, WI community. Logan Horn, a 2021 Marketing & Business Education graduate, received the Lorraine Missling Outstanding Early Career Educator Award at the Fall 2023 Wisconsin Educators of Business & Information Technology (WEBIT) Conference in Eau Claire, WI where he teaches at North High School. His nomination for the award described the positive student relationships Logan has developed while running a school-based enterprise/school store, serving as DECA advisor, and providing quality curriculum that leads to student success in competitive events. WEBIT Scholarship Recipients Shawna Schalk and Julie Miller, both current Marketing & Business Education students, were awarded the Wisconsin Educators of Business and Information Technology (WEBIT) scholarships at their Fall 2023 professional conference in Eau Claire, WI.
