Stout University Foundation Scholarships

Ruth and Brian M. Jennerjahn Annual Scholarship Brian and Ruth Jennerjahn are both graduates of UW-Stout. After graduation, Ruth taught at Nicolet High School in Milwaukee and was later a home economist for the Wisconsin Electric Company. Brian took a succession of engineering-related positions and eventually rose to be plant engineer at the 3M Duplicating Plant. In 1979, Brian began his own business, Jennerjahn Machine, in Matthews, Ind. Brian built the machines and Ruth acted as bookkeeper and “gofer” for parts. The company makes slitting, rewinding, and packaging equipment. The couple believes that their success started with the hands-on learning at UW-Stout. These scholarships are awarded on a rotating basis between manufacturing engineering, art and design, and food and nutrition majors. Applicants must be juniors or seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA and have financial need. The annual awards are $8,000 each. Jeffrey Sabelko Nathaniel Schmitz Fred Johnson Graphic Arts Scholarship Fred Johnson served UW-Stout for many years in the graphic arts program. Family, friends and alumni in the printing industry established this scholarship in Fred’s honor. This scholarship is awarded to a cross-media graphics management major or today’s equivalent major. The annual award is $200. Allison Zwettler Dr. Karen Johnson Scholarship Dr. Karen Johnson, B.S. 1961, M.S.1962, was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from UW-Stout in 1994 for her distinguished professional life in the food industry. Karen, a former corporate officer/vice president of consumer affairs at Borden’s, established this scholarship to recognize the distinguished scholarship and professional potential of a student planning a business career in the food industry. This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate with a 3.5 or above GPA and a minimum of 30 credits completed in dietetics, food science and technology, or food and nutritional sciences.
